welcome to a potentially new adventure

im starting more and more to think and sometimes to even act towards the idea of leaving more popular services and platforms, or at least use them less

im not yet sure if its from some sort of stupid need to be different or maybe i have had enough with them

windows is starting to get more shitty by each quarter… at least steam is doing stuff to move gamers to linux, which is not bad at all… imagine next generation of kids being comfortable with a cmd line, knowing some more technical concepts about computers and computer science… doesnt sound bad at all

so yeah kind of an adventure… writing these ideas on this vivaldi blog… giving a shot to another browser than chrome… it will be probably a long and slow process of migration, that if even it ends in using vivaldi as my main, but we will see

now im running linux mint cinnamon which to be honest was kind of a nice surprise…

it is a nice mix of being simple but also offering very well thought out customize options… so thats a win in my book…

its nice seeing linux being able to install and run pretty smooth… got the wifi, sound (a little bit about that later), nvidia drivers, steam, claire obscure expedition 33, vivaldi browser all of these was kind of a breeze

now about the sound… what is it with linux and sound? i installed pop os fresh 2 times and each time sound worked… in the beginning… after a few minutes it just cuts off… nothing, nada, no controls at least from ui, make it come back

a reboot fixes things for a while… even on linux mint cinnamon this happens

im starting to think theres a bad mix of maybe hardware and some maybe too aggressive power saving options… dont know yet, will see, for the moment it seems this commands does the trick without rebooting

will see how things evolve, maybe i will not give up and revert to the mainstream solutions (which we know have their issues but we got way to comfortable an used to them)
